Tatoo/Scar Colors
Ever since the update that darkened the window interface background, I have noticed a quite irritating change. My tatoos for my monk, and also my scars for my necro do not display the dye color in the inventory windows. The dye is still there just fine, it's just that the tatoos look plain, no dye color in the inventory windows. It's quite annoying, since for my monk I have 2 different sets of the 15k Ascetic's Armor, one dyed black, one dyed red. So it gets confusing at times switching back and forth, since both look plain in the inventory window. It was nice before this happened, my black tatoos looked black, and my red ones looked blue in the inventory windows. So I guess my point is that I hope they fix it :/ Here's a few screenies to show you what I mean:
Monk Tatoos(black):
Monk Tatoos(red):
Necro Scars(magenta):

My biggest pet-peeve with the tatoos graphic is how when you log off and immediately log back on, the tatoos lose their dye color and go back to light blue temporarily. My tattoos only look nice when black; otherwise, they don't match and look absolutely horrid. I'm praying for a change on that... =P

Oddly enough, Silver will affect the black part of the icon, but nothing else does. Maybe that's the problem, trying to dye the black part of the icon any other color won't really change it.

The head tattoo was dyed before the update, after the update it removed the color. The other tattoos where dyed after the update. I would have to say that if you want the color back you would have to re-dye it.

Nope, tried it with my set dyed red. I removed the dye, and put another color, purple, on it, and still nothing. This is so wierd, because I've asked several of my guildies, and they haven't had this trouble with their tatoos, they look just like yours, Zehnchu. So go figure

I might be missing something here, but is the Icon color really that important?

In most cases, no. But to someone like me, who has two or more sets, dyed different colors to differentiate between them, this is annoying. What I'm thinking is that Tatoos/Scars first dyed before the update on 1/19/06 now do not display the color in the inventory window. If they were first dyed after this update, I believe that it is fine. Just a theory, but that's what I believe. It's not a huge problem, but indeed a slight inconvenience to some.

I agree it is frustrating, when all the sets look the same.

I think what A-Net did was, Change the individual pics for your armor in your inventory so that they display how much of your armor was actually dyed, rather than old pics which showed the whole piece dyed.
So with tattoo's and scar's, when you apply the dye all that changes is the pattern,
I think its better this way, I remember the first time I dyed my druids jacket on my ranger, the whole thing went black and I thought great, the whole thing went black. Then I looked at my guy on the screen and there was only a few cuffs and bands that went black.
I was pretty gutted 'cause it looked so good in complete black then when you saw it you had to look hard to see which bits were actually dyed

That does make sense, and yeah that's what ArenaNet did. But nonetheless, some armor doesn't display a huge difference from dyed and non-dyed, especially tatoos and scars. If you look closely at the tatoos and scars, however, you do see the markings themselves have a tint of your dye color on them, but some colors are hardly visible.

Also, remember that female necro Grotto Scars cannot be dyed. (Unless they fixed that too)
So maybe the icons now reflect that also, and are undyeable.

I still think it’s a little glitch, that anet didn’t think about and isn’t in a rush to fix because no one is really complaining about it, and two it’s not a top priority to them

Does anyone actually like how the female tattoo/scar armors look? I really want to put them on my necro, but I just can't stand the bikini surfer meets shark mauling look.

I noticed this too on my monk tatoo's, but only two pieces out of 8 changed, the rest still have the dye color on the tatoo icon.
